Solar Battery Warranty Claim Documentation Checklist

Prepare the serial numbers, commissioning records, monitoring evidence, fault history and installation documents commonly needed when escalating a home-battery warranty issue.

Identify every component in the system

Record the battery module serial numbers, control unit, inverter, gateway and any expansion modules. Photograph labels clearly without posting serial numbers publicly. Manufacturers often need the complete system identity because a fault can involve communications or power electronics rather than the cell modules alone.

Preserve commissioning evidence

Keep the original installation date, installer details, commissioning report, approved system diagram and firmware versions where available. If the product warranty requires professional installation or particular compatible equipment, these records help establish that the system was commissioned within the supported configuration.

Export monitoring and fault history

Save timestamps, screenshots and downloadable logs before equipment is reset or replaced. Note state of charge, power, temperature and the circumstances around the fault. A repeatable timeline is more useful to support teams than a general statement that the battery sometimes stops working.

Document troubleshooting without bypassing protections

Record manufacturer-approved troubleshooting steps and support ticket numbers. Do not open sealed battery enclosures, defeat disconnects or alter protection settings to gather more evidence. Warranty escalation should not create a safety incident or undermine the supported configuration.

Read the warranty before assuming coverage

Use the battery warranty guide and commissioning/handover checklist. Capacity retention, throughput, labour, travel and replacement terms can be different, so document the specific claim being made.

Preserve evidence before equipment is reset or removed

Before a factory reset, inverter replacement or battery removal, export monitoring logs where possible and photograph serial numbers, warning screens, wiring condition and the installed environment. Record dates, firmware versions and the troubleshooting steps requested by support. If an installer changes a component, keep the job record and replacement serial number. A warranty claim is easier to evaluate when the history survives the repair attempt instead of disappearing with the failed device.
