Record what was actually installed
Keep exact model and serial numbers for modules, inverters, batteries, backup equipment and major controls. The final equipment list should match the project rather than an early quotation if substitutions were approved.
Collect as-built documentation
Request the final single-line diagram or equivalent electrical documentation, array/layout information, relevant permits or approvals, commissioning records and any settings that future service technicians may need.
Confirm monitoring ownership and access
The system owner should know how to access monitoring, alarms and production history without depending on a salesperson’s personal account. Record administrator/owner transfer steps where the platform supports them.
Test the operating modes you paid for
If backup is included, test a controlled outage or transfer procedure where safe and permitted. Confirm reserve settings, protected circuits and how the system behaves when solar, grid and battery conditions change.
Keep warranty and support routes together
Store manufacturer warranties, installer workmanship terms, support contacts and proof of purchase with the commissioning records. Clarify who handles labor if a component warranty claim occurs.
