1. Define the use case
A product cannot be “best” in the abstract. We first define the job: home backup, off-grid use, space-constrained rooftop, portable power, commercial self-consumption or another clearly stated scenario.
2. Collect source data
Manufacturer datasheets and manuals are used for product specifications. Compatibility claims should come from current manufacturer documentation where possible.
3. Eliminate incompatible options
Products that fail electrical, environmental or use-case requirements should not outrank suitable products because they are cheaper or pay a higher commission.
4. Compare measurable trade-offs
Depending on category, criteria may include usable capacity, output power, efficiency, dimensions, operating temperature, expansion, warranty, certifications, monitoring and support.
5. Separate evidence levels
Hands-on measurements, manufacturer specifications, third-party lab data and anecdotal owner reports are not treated as the same kind of evidence.
6. Explain monetization
If outbound links are monetized, that should be disclosed. A product can remain editorially relevant even when no affiliate merchant is available.
