Start with the manufacturer’s current compatibility matrix
The correct question is not whether two brands can communicate in general; it is whether the exact inverter hardware revision, battery model, battery control unit and regional firmware combination is supported. Save the current manufacturer document or portal reference used for the design.
Record versions before changing anything
At commissioning or retrofit, capture inverter firmware, battery-management firmware, gateway or controller versions and the installer application version where relevant. This creates a useful baseline if an update changes behavior.
Follow the documented update sequence
Some systems require one device to be updated before another or require the battery to remain in a defined state. Interrupting power during a firmware operation can create service problems. Updates should follow manufacturer instructions and be performed by an appropriately qualified person when the product requires it.
Validate communications after the update
A system that powers on is not necessarily communicating correctly. Confirm state of charge, power flow, alarms, battery count, meter values, backup state and remote monitoring. If multiple modules are present, make sure the controller reports the intended configuration.
Preserve evidence for support
Keep screenshots or exported diagnostics, version numbers, serial numbers and the support case reference if a manufacturer is involved. This shortens future troubleshooting and prevents a warranty discussion from relying on memory.

Do not confuse an update with a compatibility approval
A newer firmware version is not automatically suitable for every battery. Confirm the supported combination first, then record the version that was actually commissioned and the result of the post-update checks.
