Export capability is part of system design
Energex offers dynamic connections for eligible distributed energy resource systems such as rooftop solar and batteries. Instead of a single fixed export limit, compatible systems can receive changing export limits based on local network capacity. Energex states dynamic connections can allow exports up to 10kW per phase when network capacity is available, compared with lower fixed limits for basic connections.
Your inverter or gateway must support the connection method
Dynamic operation depends on compliant equipment and communications. The installer submits the connection application and configures the inverter or gateway to communicate with the network. If the communications link is lost for an extended period, Energex describes a lower default export limit, so reliable commissioning and internet configuration are part of the handover.
Single-phase battery projects need architecture checks
Energex says a dynamic connection can allow a larger combined solar-plus-battery inverter capacity on single-phase sites, but hybrid inverters are assessed differently and remain subject to specific total inverter limits. Do not assume that adding a battery after solar is electrically or connection-wise automatic.
Buyer checklist
- Ask the installer whether the proposal is fixed-export or dynamic.
- Confirm the exact inverter/gateway is approved for the proposed connection method.
- Require the export limit and any communications dependency in writing.
- Check solar and battery inverter capacity together, especially on single phase.
- Keep the network connection approval and commissioning record with the system documents.
