What to monitor and maintain in a solar-plus-storage system, from production trends to ventilation, firmware and physical inspection.

Maintenance starts with monitoring

A sudden production drop, repeated inverter fault or battery communication alert can be more useful than a fixed cleaning schedule. Keep baseline screenshots or monthly production records so unusual changes are visible.

PV array

Look for obvious damage, persistent soiling, new shading, loose-looking components or roof issues from a safe location. Cleaning frequency depends on local dust, rainfall, roof pitch and access. Do not create a fall or electrical hazard for a small production gain.

Inverter and electrical equipment

Keep required ventilation clear, follow manufacturer service guidance and do not block cooling paths. Repeated high-temperature derating can indicate poor location or airflow.

Batteries

Review alarms, state-of-health information if available, temperature environment and enclosure condition. Firmware updates should follow manufacturer or qualified-installer guidance, especially where inverter-battery compatibility is involved.

Documentation

Keep service records, warranty documents, serial numbers and any configuration changes. This becomes particularly important if equipment is replaced or a warranty claim is made years later.
