Rooftop solar set a new quarterly record
Australia’s Clean Energy Regulator reported on 28 August 2026 that 1 gigawatt of rooftop solar was installed during the June quarter. The regulator says this exceeded the prior quarterly record of 942 megawatts set in Q4 2023. The figure describes installations recorded in the national scheme during the quarter and is useful evidence of continued distributed-solar activity.
Large-scale solar investment also reached a record
The same Q2 report says 1.8 GW of large-scale solar reached final investment decision during the quarter, the strongest quarterly result since the regulator began tracking that investment measure. Household-scale installations and large project investment therefore both contributed to the quarter’s solar signal.
Battery demand is strong, but applications are not installations
The regulator says it had received more than 500,000 battery applications since the relevant program began. Melnti records this as an application count rather than treating every application as an installed battery. The distinction matters when interpreting market size and service demand.
