The Australian Powerwall 2 recall remains active
The Clean Energy Council’s product-recall page records an update dated 12 August 2026 for Tesla Motors Australia’s Powerwall 2 recall. The new consumer advice says affected owners can contact their installer to schedule replacement. The underlying ACCC Product Safety recall identifies a subset of Powerwall 2 systems containing battery cells that may fail and overheat.
This is not a Powerwall 3 recall
Model identity matters. The Australian notice names Powerwall 2, so Melnti does not extend the recall language to Powerwall 3 or to other Tesla storage products without separate evidence. That distinction is especially important on product-comparison and installer-support pages where similar brand names can otherwise create unnecessary alarm.
What affected owners should do
The published recall material directs owners to keep affected systems online where possible so Tesla can identify and remotely discharge affected units, and says affected units will be replaced at no cost. Owners should follow the current Tesla/ACCC instructions for their serial number rather than general battery-shutdown advice from unrelated products.
Why it matters for product research
Safety notices can change after a product page has been published. Melnti therefore keeps recall and support evidence separate from normal specification data and records the date checked. For installers and buyers, the practical lesson is to verify exact model and serial information during handover, preserve commissioning records and keep manufacturer contact details available for future service actions.
