The inverter is the traffic controller of the system
PV modules produce DC electricity while most homes and public grids operate with AC electricity. The inverter performs that conversion and, depending on type, may also manage battery charging, backup circuits, grid interaction, monitoring and export limits.
Choose the architecture before the brand

PV input limits matter
An inverter’s AC power rating is not the only sizing constraint. The PV array must stay within the inverter’s MPPT voltage range, maximum DC voltage, input current and short-circuit-current limits across expected operating temperatures. String design is therefore an electrical-design task, not simply “panel watts divided by inverter watts.”
Backup output is often different from normal output
Some hybrid inverters can supply the entire home during an outage; others provide a dedicated essential-load output with a separate power limit. Confirm continuous backup power, surge behavior, phase limitations and whether PV can continue operating during a grid outage.
Battery compatibility can change the experience
Closed-loop battery communication may allow the battery management system and inverter to exchange state-of-charge, voltage, current and protection information. If a battery is used in an unsupported “user-defined” mode, the system may work but lose features or warranty support. Always verify current compatibility documentation.

- How many independent MPPT trackers are available?
- What are the operating and start-up voltage ranges?
- What PV input current is allowed per MPPT?
- What is the battery voltage range and maximum charge/discharge current?
- What is the backup/EPS continuous and surge rating?
- Is generator input supported?
- What monitoring is included and does it require cloud access?
- What local grid certifications are required?
