Dorset Council says a new Switch Together group-buying round is open for homeowners and businesses exploring solar PV and battery storage, following more than 200 participating households in the previous scheme.

Dorset has opened another group-buying round

Dorset Council announced on 17 August 2026 that it had partnered with Switch Together on a new solar scheme for homeowners and businesses. The council describes a group-buying process intended to help participants explore competitively priced solar PV and battery installations from vetted installers.

The previous round gives useful context

The council says more than 200 households took part in the previous year’s scheme. That figure shows local demand, but it does not establish that the new round will produce the same pricing, equipment mix or savings for every property.

Group buying does not remove system-design checks

Participants should still review the proposed panel and inverter model, battery compatibility, usable storage, backup capability, roof layout, DNO requirements, warranty and installer accreditation. A group price is only useful when the proposed system is technically appropriate for the property.
