Two stand-alone battery projects are moving forward

The U.S. Department of Energy Energy Dominance Financing program says it closed a $489 million loan in August 2026 to Amanecer Puerto Rico LLC, a Pattern Energy subsidiary. The financing covers two stand-alone battery energy storage projects in Arecibo and Santa Isabel totaling 220 MW.

The stated goal is grid reliability

DOE frames the projects around reliability, security and lower electricity costs on a grid that experiences significant disruptions. For Melnti, the useful signal is not a consumer-product endorsement but continued large-scale storage investment in a market where resilience is commercially important.

Keep project scale separate from home storage

Utility-scale BESS procurement, interconnection and fire-safety requirements differ materially from residential batteries. This update therefore remains Energy Watch context rather than a reason to infer compatibility or availability for any home-battery product.
