Victron Cerbo GX Integration and Compatibility Checklist

A practical checklist for confirming ports, battery support, firmware, networking and environmental requirements before adding Cerbo GX to a Victron-based energy system.

Solar switchboard and system controls

Map every device before ordering adapters

The Victron Cerbo GX provides three VE.Direct ports, two parallel VE.Bus RJ45 sockets and CAN interfaces, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. List every inverter/charger, solar controller, battery/BMS, meter and sensor first so the required interfaces are clear.

Battery compatibility is not just a CAN connector

Victron documents managed-battery integration and firmware requirements separately. Confirm the exact battery model is supported and follow the battery manufacturer and Victron configuration notes before enabling control features such as DVCC.

Check firmware as a system

A GX device can coordinate equipment only when the connected products meet the required firmware and communication conditions. Record versions during commissioning and avoid assuming that a physically connected device is automatically a supported control target.

Plan network resilience

VRM remote monitoring depends on network connectivity. Decide whether Ethernet, Wi-Fi or another approved path will be used, and make sure local console access remains possible if the internet connection fails.

Respect the installation environment

The current Cerbo GX technical specification lists IP20. Mount it in an appropriate protected environment, with suitable DC supply and cable routing, rather than treating it like an outdoor field enclosure.

Keep compatibility evidence with the project record

Save the relevant Victron manual, battery compatibility note and wiring diagram with the commissioning documentation. Browse Parts & Components for other source-backed control and monitoring records, and use Support for system-level checklists.
