CRE published the selected Corsica storage projects
On 5 June 2026, France’s Commission de régulation de l’énergie published the projects selected from the 2025 application window for electricity-storage assets in Corsica. CRE’s underlying decision records 19 MW / 38 MWh of electrochemical batteries selected from complete battery applications totaling 39 MW / 78 MWh, alongside pumped-storage projects.
Island systems make flexibility especially valuable
CRE explains that storage in non-interconnected zones can help integrate intermittent renewable generation and reduce the additional system costs associated with supplying island grids. The procurement context is specific to Corsica and France’s public-energy-service framework, so these project figures should not be translated into household battery sizing or pricing.
Melnti keeps system policy separate from household recommendations
For residential or commercial buyers, the useful lesson is that storage value depends heavily on grid conditions and market rules. Equipment selection still requires usable capacity, continuous power, inverter compatibility, site constraints and current local tariffs. Melnti records this item as French market context rather than a product endorsement.
