The second RENOINN call expanded sharply
Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition announced on 4 August 2026 that €433.44 million had been assigned to 524 innovative renewable projects. The ministry says storage is incorporated in every awarded project and that the programme received 882 applications, leading to a large increase over the initial budget.
The awarded portfolio includes generation and storage
MITECO states that the selected projects total 1,225.66 MW of generation capacity and 2,320.72 MWh of storage. Categories include agrivoltaics, floating photovoltaic systems, renewable generation integrated with infrastructure, collective self-consumption and renewable heat pumps.
Awards are not yet operating capacity
Melnti records these figures as an awarded project portfolio. They should not be described as already commissioned generation or storage. Construction, permitting and delivery still determine when individual projects become operational, so future Energy Watch updates should distinguish funding decisions from completed assets.
Geographic concentration is visible in the award list
The ministry says Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura and Andalusia account for many of the selected proposals. That makes the programme relevant to Melnti location research, but each city or region still needs its own network, tariff and installer evidence before a local page can become index-ready.
