What changed
The European Commission published an updated guidance document to help battery-sector stakeholders prepare for the Digital Battery Passport. It brings together 71 data points and indicates how each applies across covered battery categories.
When the passport becomes mandatory
From 18 February 2027, each EV battery, each light-means-of-transport battery and each industrial battery above 2 kWh that is placed on the EU market or put into service must have a battery passport under the applicable rules.
Why this matters for Melnti
Battery identity, technical characteristics, durability and lifecycle information are becoming more structured.
