Solar in India

India solar research for rooftop PV, PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM processes, products, batteries and installer planning.

Dense urban rooftops and solar

India’s rooftop market is scaling quickly, but local DISCOM execution still matters

National programmes create a broad framework while practical connection, verification and local implementation involve the relevant distribution company. Product choice therefore needs both national programme context and local electrical/service support.

PM Surya Ghar crossed 50 lakh beneficiary households in 2026

India’s Press Information Bureau reported that PM Surya Ghar had passed 50.06 lakh beneficiary households by 4 August 2026. A later August government factsheet reported 51.58 lakh households, roughly ₹28,024 crore in subsidy transferred and 14.8GW of rooftop-solar capacity commissioned under the scheme.

Use the official application and DISCOM route

Do not rely on a salesperson’s subsidy headline alone. Confirm current eligibility, approved equipment/installer requirements, application status, meter/grid steps and the local DISCOM process before committing.

Equipment still has to fit the load

Where outages, voltage conditions or backup needs matter, compare inverter architecture, battery power, usable storage and service support—not only rooftop PV capacity.

Use Melnti’s system-size calculator and verified product library as the equipment layer alongside the official programme process.
